The Spessart is a woodland area with very well preserved archaeological monuments, now divided by administrative borders. Its rich resources have been used by man since the stone ages. Although there are traces of vast deforestations in prehistoric and medieval times, the forest has preserved the archaeological monuments and traces of human activities so well, that today we are able to draw a vivid picture of a cultural landscape. Two paths will guide the visitor on this fascinating voyage through time.
