Aerial view of the late Bronze Age burial mound Lusehøj.

The Island of Funen is one of the most important areas of the Nordic Bronze Age. The quantity of burial mounds indicates a densely populated area, and the size of some of the mounds tells a story of wealthy chieftains and extensive trade connections with most parts of Europe. The Lusehøj is the richest burial mound from the late Bronze Age known in Scandinavia, and in Pipstorn the visitor finds the largest concentration of preserved prehistoric monuments on the Island.

In the Pipstorn area by Faaborg you find the largest number of preserved monuments from prehistoric and medieval times on Funen.
